Privacy
Last updated 10 October 2026. This page says in plain words what Dhukarr keeps. It describes what the game does today, and we will update it if that changes.
What stays on your device
Your journal, passport, finds, settings and the walk you are on are saved in your browser on your own device. If you clear your browser's site data, they go. Your progress is not sent to us unless you sign in.
If you sign in
Signing in is optional. It lets you carry on from another device. We then keep:
- your email address, and a 6-digit passcode that we store scrambled so we cannot read it;
- your saved progress: journal, passport, finds, notes, settings, arrangements, the walk you are on, and when you last played.
We use this only to sign you in, save and restore your progress, and send your sign-in codes. Codes are sent by email through Resend, an email delivery service. The people who run the game can see your email address and a summary of your progress on an admin page, for example to help if you are locked out. You can delete your account at any time from the account screen in the game, which removes the copy we hold. The copy on your device stays.
Feedback you send
The feedback card is anonymous. It sends your star ratings, an optional note, the place and walk you were on, how many walks you have finished, and whether you are on a phone, tablet or desktop. It does not send your name, email or account. Please do not write personal details in the note. We get an email telling us a new response arrived. If you would like a response deleted, email us and say roughly when you sent it and what it said.
Anonymous totals
When a walk starts or ends, a mystery is opened or answered, or a tool is found, the game can add 1 to a counter on our server. The counter holds only the event, the place, the walk, a rough bucket for how many walks you have finished, and the day. It has no id, no account, no IP address and no exact time, so nobody can be followed from one visit to the next. We use it to see where players stop, so we can make the walks better. You can turn it off in Settings (“Share anonymous totals”). It starts off if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
Other things to know
- The game screen loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google sees your device's address when the page loads, as with any site that does this.
- Like any web server, ours keeps routine technical logs, such as the address a request came from. We use them to keep the site running and secure, not to identify or follow players.
- We do not use cookies. Your device storage holds your progress and, if you sign in, a sign-in token.
- The game uses open map and wildlife data. See the credits on the About page. None of it is about you.
Young players
The game is made to be gentle for anyone. If you are young, please ask a parent or carer before you sign in or send feedback.
Questions, access and deletion
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected]. For a signed-in account, deleting it in the game is the fastest way.
